Ukraine’s ability to threaten Novorossiysk will reduce russia’s influence in the Black Sea

The threat from Ukraine to Novorossiysk will become another strategic challenge for the aggressor country.

Any demonstration of Ukraine’s ability to threaten Novorossiysk will be a challenge for russian federation. This is reported by British intelligence, referring to the information of rossMI about the attack of the Ukrainian drone in the port of Novorossiysk.

On November 18, the mass media reported on an attack on an oil terminal in the port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea coast of russian federation. Not far from the terminal is a large base of the Black Sea Fleet of russia.

British intelligence recalled that the Black Sea Fleet of russian federation moved many of its underwater operations to Novorossiysk after Ukraine attacked the base in Sevastopol in the summer.

“The russian command will probably be concerned about threats to the amphibious flotilla based in Novorossiysk. These vessels are relatively vulnerable unescorted and have taken on a more important role in supplying russian forces in Ukraine since the Kerch Bridge was damaged in October,” the report added.

Full details of the incident have not yet emerged. But any demonstration of Ukraine’s ability to threaten Novorossiysk would be another strategic challenge for the Black Sea Fleet and could undermine russia’s already diminished naval influence in the Black Sea, the British Ministry of Defense noted.
