Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the ferry of the Russian Federation: what is known (video)
A railway ferry carrying fuel for the occupying forces is on fire in the Russian port of Kavkaz.
In the evening of August 22, the invaders announced an attack on a railway ferry with tanks in the port of Kavkaz. We are talking about the vessel “Conro Trader” (previously “Aquatrader”), rosZMI writes.
Crimean telegram channels also confirmed the hit. Yes, a large-scale fire can be seen even from the beaches of Crimea – on the other side of the Kerch Strait.
Russian propagandists claimed that the ferry was allegedly attacked by the Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missile.
The Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the fact of hitting an enemy ship.
“This ferry is one of the important chains of Russian military logistics for providing the occupation forces, primarily with fuel and lubricants, but, in addition, of course, it also transported weapons. Therefore, it is a completely legitimate goal. And, accordingly, this should reduce the potential of our enemy’s opportunity in those locations where they are conducting active combat operations,” commented Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesman of the Navy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The ferry Conroe Trader is believed to have had 30 fuel tanks and crew members on board at the time of the attack.
After the start of a large-scale fire, a fire train, more than 100 firefighters and 34 pieces of equipment were sent to the scene. However, the enemy ship sank.
“Conroe Trader” was the only large ferry that ran between the temporarily occupied Kerch and Russia. After the attack, the Russians suspended the Kerch crossing and closed the Kerch Bridge in both directions. The port of Kavkaz is closed indefinitely.
This is not the first time that the ferry has come under attack from the Armed Forces. On the night of May 30, the ship was hit by an ATACMS ballistic missile near the berth of the Kerch sea fishing port. However, the Conroe Trader was empty at the time and was not critically damaged.
Note that ferries are an important part of Crimea’s logistics. After the destruction of most of the large amphibious ships, the Russian Federation supplies cargo for its military by ferries.
It is noteworthy that last time Ukrainian drones attacked a ferry crossing in the Russian port of Kavkaz exactly one month ago — on July 23.
