Ukrainian associations appealed to the President of Ukraine regarding the cargo transportation crisis in the Red Sea.

The appeal to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was signed by the Ukrainian Grain Association, Ukrharchoprom, the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Employers’ Federation of Ukraine, the International Chamber of Commerce and the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.

Associations emphasized the emergence of a crisis in cargo transportation through the Suez Canal, which is carried out by Ukrainian companies.

Against the backdrop of the blockade of Ukraine’s land border by some neighboring countries, the situation in the Red Sea is of great importance for Ukrainian carriers, traders and manufacturers.

The appeal states that the situation in the Red Sea has a negative impact on both exports (mainly agricultural products to African and Asian countries) and imports (mostly fuel and mineral fertilizers from the Middle East).

The associations asked the President to consider this issue at a meeting of the National Security Council and instruct the ministries to prepare the necessary proposals.
