Ukrainian community in Australia plans protest against Russian oil tanker

The Union of Ukrainian Organizations of Australia has announced a protest in Sydney, demanding that the authorities and businesses stop the import of petroleum products originating from Russia.

The action will take place on Sunday, November 30, and is dedicated to the arrival of a tanker with fuel made from Russian oil at the Port of Botany.

According to the UOA, the Proteus Bohemia is transporting 78 thousand tons of gasoline from the Reliance base in Jamnagar. The cost of this cargo is estimated at 16 million Australian dollars, and these funds, activists emphasize, partly go to financing the Kremlin.

The protest participants demand that the Australian authorities close the legislative loophole that allows the import of such fuel, ban petroleum products processed from Russian raw materials, and call on fuel sellers to review their supply chains.

The organizers emphasize that the mass presence will help draw attention to the problem of financing Russian aggression through fuel imports.

USM previously reported that in August, a rally was held in Australia against the import of fuel from Russian oil.
