Ukrainian grain carriers can reach 4 EU seaports
There are several routes in Europe that are compatible with Ukrainian hopper cars. Following these routes, you can reach a total of four seaports.
The consulting company DB Engineering&Consulting conducted this study on the order of Ukrzaliznytsia. It is noted that Ukrainian hopper cars are higher and wider than European ones. However, congestion at the border takes a long time. Therefore, the question was which ports can be reached without congestion, writes Rail.insider.
Of the 12 selected ports, four ports were identified as accessible by Ukrainian hoppers: German Hamburg and Rostock, Polish Gdansk and Romanian Constanta. A total of ten routes are accepted. The study considered a freight car of type 19-752.
Four countries were also identified as impossible for such transportation: Italy, Croatia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. This means that such ports as Rijeka, Trieste or Genoa are not an option for Ukrainian hoppers as a final destination.
