Ukrainian naval drone “Magura” destroys Russian Su-30 fighter for the first time

This is the first documented case in the world of the destruction of a combat aircraft by a naval drone.
The Defense Intelligence special unit “Group 13” with the support of the SBU and the Defense Forces carried out a unique operation in the Black Sea. The naval drone destroyed the Russian multi-role Su-30 fighter, the Defense Intelligence press service reported.
The strike was carried out with a missile from the Magura V5 naval unmanned platform. The Russian fighter, whose cost is estimated at approximately $ 50 million, was hit in the air and fell into the sea near the port of Novorossiysk, where the remains of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are located.
This operation was another confirmation of the effectiveness of Ukrainian naval drones in modern combat conditions. Earlier, on December 31, 2024, “Group 13” had already carried out a historic strike, destroying two Russian Mi-8 helicopters using Magura V5s equipped with R-73 SeeDragon missiles.
Reference: Magura V5 (Maritime Autonomous Guard Unmanned Robotic Apparatus) is a Ukrainian naval drone designed to perform reconnaissance and combat missions. It is capable of carrying up to 200 kg of payload, including air-to-air missiles, and has a range of up to 800 km.
Earlier, USM reported that Ukrainian Magura V5 naval drones have learned to deceive enemy electronic warfare.
