Ukrainian naval drones, including Magura, took part in the REPMUS exercises

The modernized Ukrainian Magura v7.2, along with two other Ukrainian naval drones, took part in military exercises organized by NATO countries.

The Defense360 blog published a photo of Ukrainian naval drones on the coast of Troy, writes Militarnyi.

Among the systems delivered to the local port, observers noticed three Ukrainian drones at once, two of which were based on the modified Magura v7 platform. They were demonstrated publicly for the first time.

“The updated Magura v7.2 underwent changes in the hull, where the missile launchers were shifted from the stern to the middle of the deck, and the exhaust manifold outlets were moved from the sides. In addition, the camera was raised higher on the mast, where the onboard navigation radar also appeared,” the report says.

In particular, the machine gun module was moved from the middle of the hull closer to the bow. This was probably due to a problem with the bow lifting during acceleration, which blocked the viewing angles of the installation. A mast with an optical module also appeared on board, but without a radar.

The first version of the Magura v7 drone, introduced only this year, had a 7.2-meter fiberglass hull and weighed 3,400 kilograms. In this configuration, it developed a speed of up to 39 knots and could cover a distance of up to 1,500 kilometers. However, it is possible that the changes made could have significantly affected these parameters.

Another Ukrainian naval drone of an unknown model was also spotted during the exercises, which was equipped with two guides for R-73 aircraft missiles, an optical module and a navigation radar.

The publication noted that this naval drone had already been used in the Russian-Ukrainian war at least once during an operation off the coast of Crimea in May of this year.

Recall that on the night of May 3 this year, MaguraV7 naval drones shot down Russian aircraft. Magura V7 became the first naval unmanned platform in the world to shoot down a Russian Su-30 fighter jet with an American AIM 9 missile.
