Ukrainian Navy and US Sixth Fleet strengthen cooperation in port protection and sailor training

The Ukrainian Navy is expanding cooperation with the US Sixth Fleet in the framework of training sailors and strengthening the protection of port infrastructure.

This was announced by the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, after a telephone conversation with the Commander of the US Sixth Fleet, Vice Admiral Jeffrey Anderson.

Neizhpapa noted that joint exercises were discussed, in particular on mine countermeasures, as part of the international naval exercises Sea Breeze. “Training is a major part of our success. The more sailors receive modern knowledge, the better we will be able to resist the enemy,” the Vice Admiral emphasized.

Another important topic was the strengthening of air defense to protect Ukrainian ports, which are of strategic importance for the country’s economy. “Ports are not only strategic objects, but also a large part of Ukraine’s economic stability,” the Navy Commander emphasized.

Neizhpapa expressed gratitude for the comprehensive assistance from the United States and suggested that the Sixth Fleet join the Coalition to Build Ukraine’s Maritime Capabilities. “Together we can achieve even more,” he noted.

Commander of the US Sixth Fleet Jeffrey Anderson, in turn, noted the high professionalism and determination of Ukrainian military sailors.

Earlier, Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, checked the readiness of ship and boat tactical groups that protect the security of the “grain corridor” and the Black Sea.
