Ukrainian ports handled 1.5 million tons of ore cargo in May


The cargo turnover of seaports of Ukraine in May exceeded 8 million tons. This is almost twice as much as for the same period in 2023.

In May, grain and ore cargoes became the leaders of cargo turnover, reports the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.

During this period, the ports processed 8 million 265 thousand tons of cargo. The share of cereals amounted to 5.3 million tons (against 3.5 million tons in 2023). The share of ore cargoes is 1.5 million tons (against 241,000 tons last year).

Cargo traffic through the Ukrainian sea corridor in May amounted to 6.7 million tons, of which 4.5 million tons were produced by Ukrainian farmers.

“In general, from January to May 2024, the ports of Ukraine processed almost 46 million tons (compared to 26.6 million tons in 2023),” USPA noted.

As previously reported by USM, 5.1 million tons of grain, oil and processed products were exported from the ports of Great Odesa in May. In turn, 803,000 tons were shipped via the Danube.
