Ukrainian ports have processed 40 million tons of cargo since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian seaports have processed about 40 million tons of cargo, most of which was grain.

This was reported by Deputy Minister for Development Communities and Territories of Ukraine Andriy Kashuba in an interview with Ukrinform.

According to operational information, in January-June 2025, Ukrainian ports processed about 40 million tons of cargo. Of these, 20.3 million tons were grain, 9.3 million tons were ore, and 2.1 million tons were ferrous metals.

Agricultural cargoes make up the lion’s share of the results of processing in ports. According to UGA, in 2024, the harvest of grain and oilseed crops in Ukraine was 9.5% less than in 2023, at 75 million tons. Data from the State Customs Service for the first quarter of 2025 indicate a general reduction in exports of goods by almost 7%.

“Yes, indeed, there is a certain drop in volumes now, but those ports that are open are operating stably, despite constant shelling and a difficult security situation,” Kashuba commented.

According to him, there is currently a trend towards a decrease in exports, which is primarily due to the reduction in the country’s sown areas as a result of hostilities and temporary occupation by the enemy. This determines the overall impact on the performance of seaports.

Earlier, USM reported that the USPA and business are looking for joint solutions for the logistics season in the port of Chornomorsk.
