Ukrainian seamen can now get documents through a representative

Now Ukrainian sailors can apply and receive qualification documents through a representative.

Corresponding changes to Resolution No. 1499 were adopted by the Government at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. This is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Reconstruction and the Shipping Administration to improve the procedure for certifying sailors under martial law.

If the seafarer is on a flight, he can submit an application and receive qualification documents remotely through a proxy.

However, who exactly can become a trustee in this case is currently unknown. The Shipping Administration promises to provide clarification later.

The ministry reminded that currently the only legal way to confirm professional competence and obtain qualification documents is to apply to the Shipping Administration or SE “Morrichservice” in accordance with the procedure established by the Regulations.
