Unblocking the export of fertilizers will bring russia about $15 billion
According to minimum calculations, the export potential of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers of russian federation is more than 20 million tons per year. At current prices, this is about $15 billion.
In addition, the nitrogen and phosphate enterprises of the russian chemical industry are a continuation of the chain of production and sale of Russian natural gas. The representative of the VVM company, Serhii Ruban, told about this in the material for the Latifundist portal.
“Why are we talking about nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers? The lion’s share of mineral fertilizers are either directly (nitrite, urea, KAS) or indirectly (ammonium sulfate, amphos, diammonium phosphate, NPK) produced from ammonia. The most massive raw material for the production of ammonia is natural gas,” said the expert.
Ammonia is the simplest and most logical product for the utilization of excess natural gas in the conditions of reduced gas export supplies.
“Limiting the export of russian gas and currently increasing the export of ammonia is like transferring money from one pocket of a coat to another,” says Serhii Ruban.
Therefore, when the lifting of restrictions on the sale of russian chemical products is discussed, it is primarily a matter of returning to normal pre-war business practices.
Especially, Serhii Ruban says, given that part of the export proceeds will be used to form “gray” financing schemes for the purchase of goods critical for russian federation abroad, or other anti-Ukrainian activities.
Previously, USM said that the world is gradually unblocking the export of fertilizers from the russian Federation. So, for example, the first batch of russian fertilizers has already left the Netherlands for Africa.
