Up to 15,000 tons of Ukrainian grain are transported to Klaipeda port every month
The volume of transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products to Klaipeda via Poland increased to 15,000 tons per month.
Currently, grain is mainly transported to Klaipeda, and fuel is transported from there. This was announced by the head of Lietuvos gelezinkeliai (LTG, “Lithuanian Railways”) Egidius Lazauskas, writes TTS.
“Ukrainians take grain to Lithuania as an alternative to Odesa, and diesel fuel is taken home from Klaipeda, because the demand for it in Ukraine is huge now and there are problems with its supply,” said Lazauskas.
According to him, after the transport company LTG Cargo started transporting agricultural products from Ukraine to Klaipeda port via Poland in May, it managed to transport about 50 thousand tons of these goods by September.
“In recent months, the amount of these cargoes has increased and reaches about 15,000 tons per month, about 200,000 tons can be transported per year,” the head of LTG added.
As stated in Lietuvos gelezinkeliai, 31 trains arrived from Ukraine to Lithuania from May to the end of August.
