US intercepts ‘shadow fleet’ ship in Arabian Sea

The US military forced the sanctioned vessel Sevan to change course and return to Iranian ports.
The US Navy has intercepted the “shadow fleet” vessel Sevan in the Arabian Sea, which is under sanctions for transporting Iranian energy resources. This was reported by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
During the operation, the Americans used a helicopter from the guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney (DDG 91). According to the US military, the vessel is part of a group of 19 “shadow fleet” units that are under sanctions by the US Treasury Department for participating in the transportation of Iranian oil and gas products, including propane and butane, to foreign markets.
CENTCOM emphasized that the US Armed Forces continue to ensure the implementation of sanctions policies and a naval blockade aimed at restricting the export of energy resources from Iran. In total, since the beginning of the blockade, the US Navy has prevented the passage of 37 ships.
