US Navy purchased new boats due to transfer of used vessels to Ukraine

The US audit report showed that the arms aid program lacked estimates for another $5.7 billion, of which $1 billion was in questionable expenses.
This is stated in the report of the Office of the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense, writes Defense Express.
In particular, the document noted that the US Navy transferred 24 boats to Ukraine and received compensation for replenishment of stocks. After that, the US Navy purchased 33 boats for itself, that is, an additional 9 units for $1 million.
“The assessment of used boats was significantly overestimated, because it allowed the purchase of more completely new vessels,” the material says.
In general, the report refers to the result of a non-statistical check of 80 tranches for $22.1 billion, of which 32 tranches for $5.7 billion did not have the appropriate supporting documentation and estimates. Of this amount, $1 billion was identified as “questionable expenses”. In addition, $0.9 billion was not used effectively. The auditors also recorded the facts of overstating the costs of weapons for Ukraine.
