USAID invests $44 million in Ukrainian grain exports
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced cooperation with three Ukrainian agricultural traders. Together, they plan to invest $44 million in infrastructure for grain export.
The USA is launching three new partnerships to develop Ukraine’s agricultural sector and increase supplies of Ukrainian grain to other countries of the world, USAID representatives told CNN. We are talking about Ukrainian agro-traders Grain Alliance, Kernel and Nibulon.
According to the agency’s forecasts, cooperation will help increase Ukraine’s ability to ship grain by more than 3 million tons annually. Together, USAID and these organizations plan to invest $44 million in the development of storage infrastructure and the expansion of grain warehouses.
As Economica Pravda writes, new investments will be directed to several terminals: Izmail and Reni in Ukraine and Chierna nad Tyso in Slovakia, where an increase in grain exports is expected. Operations include construction for the reconstruction of ship loading areas. In addition, to further develop operations in Slovakia, Grain Alliance will acquire a transshipment warehouse in that country.
USAID funding is directed toward the purchase of grain loading equipment, temporary storage facilities, and refurbished locomotives for use in Ukraine.
