USAID signed the first agreement with Ukrainian farmers

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide grain storage services. The first agreement was concluded with the farmers of the Lviv region.

The first agreement within the framework of the AGRI-Ukraine initiative was signed on October 21.

“According to the agreement signed between USAID AGRO Program and BO “Lviv Agrarian Advisory Service”, 200 small and medium agricultural producers of Lviv region will receive grain storage services. Another 12 similar agreements will be signed in the next three weeks to cover agricultural producers in other regions with services,” the press service of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) reported.

The agency will provide equipment for storing 1.5 million tons of Ukrainian grain. In total, more than 8,000 sleeves, 29 grain packing machines and reloading hoppers will be transferred to Ukraine, and they will also support the installation of modular grain storage/hangars with a total capacity of 77,000 tons.

In total, they plan to sign contracts with 13 grantors who are to provide services from November. More than 2,000 micro, small and medium-sized Ukrainian agricultural producers will become users of the services.

USM previously reported that the US will allocate $100 million to Ukraine for the agricultural sector as part of the AGRI-Ukraine initiative.
