USPA purchased the first drones for its branches

The USPA has purchased an underwater remotely operated system (ROV) for the diving service of the Delta-pilot branch.

It is used to inspect berths, hydraulic structures, the underwater part of vessels and the bottom of water areas, the Ministry of Development said.

The underwater drone transmits video and photos in real time and allows performing some work without involving divers in dangerous conditions, in particular during emergency situations.

The CHORNOMORNDIPROJECT branch received a drone for engineering surveys of hydraulic structures and ports. It is used for photo and video recording of the technical condition of objects, monitoring port areas and collecting data for further analysis and planning of work.

Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Andriy Kashuba explained that drones allow engineering work to be performed faster and more accurately, and most importantly, reduce risks to people, which is especially relevant at a time when port infrastructure is constantly under threat of shelling and mine danger.

The purchase of drones is part of the USPA’s systematic work to introduce modern technologies in the port industry.

Earlier, USM reported that the USPA denied information that shipowners were suspending calls to Ukrainian ports.
