USPA tests underwater drones to monitor infrastructure in ports

The State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” is testing underwater drones to monitor port infrastructure.

One of the areas of digital transformation in the USPA is the use of underwater drones to inspect hydraulic structures, the Ministry of Development said.

Two Norwegian-made underwater drones, provided for free testing, were tested in the waters of one of the Ukrainian ports. USPA specialists conducted a visual inspection of hydraulic structures, recorded their condition on video, and performed a technical assessment of structures at depth.

The results showed that drones can become a reliable tool for high-quality monitoring of infrastructure and reducing risks for divers. This is especially relevant in wartime conditions, when safe access to facilities is often limited.

The head of the USPA, Oleksandr Semyrha, noted that the state enterprise does not refuse human participation – on the contrary, the implementation of such solutions allows optimizing the use of human resources, increasing the efficiency and safety of work.

“In world practice, underwater drones have long become an effective tool for inspecting infrastructure, and we are consistently integrating this experience into Ukrainian realities,” the head of the USPA noted.

Earlier, USM reported that the underwater demining units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine received 16 underwater drones to search for mines and other explosive objects.
