UZ asks Maersk, CMA CGM, MSC and ACC to stop blocking tariff indexation

Ukrzaliznytsia has called on leading maritime carriers not to block the indexation of freight rates.

This was reported by Rail.insider with reference to the publication of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia Gepard Hafer on Linkedin.

He called on Maersk, CMA CGM, MSC, as well as the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (ACC) to stop blocking the company’s request for indexation of freight rates.

According to Hafer, Ukrzaliznytsia has not indexed freight rates for more than two years. He clarified that the request is justified by the current level of industrial inflation in Ukraine, measured by the Producer Price Index (PPI), as well as investment needs in infrastructure and rolling stock.

Hafer noted that blocking the indexation of freight rates affects the safety of railway transportation in Ukraine.

Maersk, CMA CGM and MSC have not yet publicly commented on the initiative to index freight rates in the Ukrainian Sea.

Earlier, USM reported that the American Chamber of Commerce opposed the increase in tariffs for transportation to the port of Chornomorsk.
