UZ transported almost half as many cargoes for export in May

“Ukrzaliznytsia” transported almost twice as much cargo for export in May as in April.

According to operational data, 1.14 million tons of cargo were transported for export by Ukrainian railways in May — this is almost half as much as in April (2.12 million tons), reports Rail.insider.

Also, in May, the grain load decreased to 1.37 million tons. The share of grain decreased to 13% in the total volume of cargo. The average daily load is 44,000 tons.

In the last week of May, the average daily load increased to 50-69 thousand tons, against 30-35 thousand tons earlier. According to Valery Tkachev, deputy director of the department of commercial work of the University of Warsaw, the improvement is connected with the restoration of the “grain corridor”.

So, on May 31, the indicator of grain unloading in the ports of Greater Odessa was 462 wagons per day, compared to 181 a week earlier. However, it is currently not possible to reach the “normal” rate of about 1,000 wagons per day, as Russia does not approve the passage of ships to the Port of Pivdennyi.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that more than 1.5 million tons of agricultural products are stored in the Port of Pivdennyi. The port is actually blocked.
