Visa-free travel between Ukraine and the EU extended until the end of the year

The Agreement on the Liberalization of Freight Transport between Ukraine and the European Union was automatically extended until the end of the year.

The Agreement, or “transport visa-free regime,” was extended until December 31, 2025. This was reported by the Ministry of Development.

This decision was made possible due to the effective implementation of the agreement, its positive impact on the economies of both sides, and effective monitoring of its implementation, the department commented.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Development of Communities and Territories Oleksiy Kuleba noted that thanks to the “transport visa-free regime,” exports by road to the European Union increased by 42%, and imports by road to Ukraine by 37%.

The “transport visa-free regime” was first agreed in June 2022. Traditionally, the agreement is valid for one year. In June 2024, it was extended for the third time for another year — until June 2025. Then one of the conditions of the updated agreement was an automatic extension until the end of 2025 in the absence of a negative impact on the parties to the agreement and the absence of violations.

The other day, the media wrote that the European Union would not extend the “transport visa-free regime” with Ukraine and would return to pre-war conditions.

Earlier, USM reported that Ukraine and Turkey had extended the transport visa-free regime.
