Zelenskyy and Shmyhal are asked to keep the Ministry of Agrarian Policy

The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister were approached regarding the preservation of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

The Agrarian and Land Policy Committee appealed to Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Denys Shmyhal with a request to keep the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the Verkhovna Rada reported.

“In the conditions of Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine and the ongoing war, it is necessary to ensure the effective functioning of state institutions, in particular, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine,” the committee noted.

They added that Ukraine is an agrarian state in which agriculture and the food sector are “vitally important for ensuring economic recovery, food security not only domestically, but also globally, the stability of the national currency during martial law.”

Therefore, the full functioning of the relevant Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is extremely important for agrarian business and the public community, because the Ministry itself forms agrarian policy, ensures the functioning of the agrarian sector in wartime and is responsible for the country’s food security, the committee summarized.

USM previously reported that the Ukrainian government plans to reduce the number of ministries by a third. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the Ministry of Economy can be merged.
