The validity period of seamen documents was extended until the end of the year
The Ministry of Infrastructure has extended the validity period of seafarers’ qualification documents until December 31 of the current year.
Previously, the Ministry of Infrastructure sent letter No. 2895/46/14-23 dated April 14 to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regarding the extension of the validity period of qualification and other documents of seafarers until December 31, 2023.
The decision to extend the validity period of qualification documents of sailors was made in connection with the war on the territory of Ukraine started by russian federation, as well as in connection with restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was announced on Facebook by the head of the Shipping Administration Yevhen Ignatenko.
According to him, the extension of the validity period of qualification and other documents of sailors concerns Ukrainian sailors who are currently on a voyage. In particular, we are talking about seafarers whose documents have expired in the period from March 2020 or will expire in the near future, and those seafarers who are on shore.
Ignatenko also reminded that those sailors who are in Ukraine can use the single legal graduation procedure, defined by the Government Resolution of December 30, 2022 #1499.
