Sanctioned russian fertilizers began to be sent from Latvia to Kenya

The port of Riga sent a batch of russian mineral fertilizers to Kenya under the agreement of the UN World Food Program.

The first shipment consists of about 200,000 tons of fertilizers of russian origin, belonging to sanctioned companies, reports Ukrinform .

The World Food Program plans to deliver several more shipments of mineral fertilizers from Latvia, which are currently under sanctions, to provide support to the countries most in need of these products.

Back in December of last year, the Latvian government allowed russian fertilizers to be unblocked in its ports. The reason was the appeal of the UN to reduce the negative consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine and to help overcome the food crisis in the countries of Africa and Latin America.
