Germany supported the agreement between the EU and countries importing Ukrainian grain

The German Ministry of Agriculture welcomed the agreement between the EU and the countries that recently banned the import of Ukrainian grain.

German Agriculture Minister Cem Ezdemir welcomed the agreement between the EU and Eastern European countries on the export of agricultural products from Ukraine, writes DW.

According to him, Kyiv urgently needs income from the sale of grain to finance its defense against Russia’s aggressive war.

“European solidarity with each other and with Ukraine should not be sacrificed to individual national interests in the short term. This weakens everyone and plays into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin,” commented Ezdemir.

As previously reported by USM, the European Commission reached an agreement in principle with Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia regarding the unblocking of imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. The EU will also allocate a support package in the amount of 100 million euros for affected farmers.
