Russia can attack EU underwater cables

A terrorist country may be preparing for another sabotage at sea.

The Russians are making a map of the critically important underwater systems of Europe and North America. In this way, russian federation is preparing the groundwork for a possible attack on EU and US underwater cables. This was stated by NATO Assistant Secretary General for Intelligence and Security David Cutler.

“There is a high level of concern that russia may target submarine cables and other critical infrastructure. This is how they will try to gain leverage over those countries that support Ukraine,” Cutler noted.

Currently, NATO member countries are strengthening the protection of underwater infrastructure after the explosions on the “Nord Streams”. First of all, we are talking about underwater cables, which account for 95% of Internet communications and carry out financial transactions in the amount of approximately 10 trillion dollars every day.

Recently, the USM wrote that russian ships  maneuvered near the Nord Streams at least three times shortly before the explosions.
