The ship of the pro-Russian oligarch was arrested at the plant in Mykolaiv
The fishing trawler “Bukhta Sokolovskaya” worth almost UAH 1 billion was arrested at the shipyard in Mykolaiv.
The ship “Bukhta Sokolovskaya” belongs to the holding of the sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleksandr Verkhovsky. The oligarch is part of the Kremlin’s inner circle and is one of the biggest “donors” of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine reports.
The Mykolaiv court seized and handed over the fishing trawler “Bukhta Sokolovskaya” to ARMA. Its value was estimated at almost 1 billion hryvnias. The Russian businessman’s fishing business allows him to regularly transfer billions of dollars to the budget of the Russian Federation.
The vessel has not yet been commissioned, as the trawler is under construction at one of the shipyards. Even before the full-scale invasion, the ship was completed at the factory in Mykolaiv.
In order to circumvent the sanctions, the owner of the vessel registered it with one of the public joint-stock companies from the Primorsky Krai of the Russian Federation.
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine noted that thanks to the National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov, the degree of readiness, technical condition and cost of the unfinished trawler were established.
As previously reported by USM, legislation will be changed to sell the yacht of Viktor Medvedchuk, suspected of high treason.
