UZ calls to increase the capacity of the station near the port of Izmail

Ukrzaliznytsia called on businesses to finance projects to expand the capacity of the station adjacent to the port of Izmail.

Today, the station is working “already at 110%”, the director of commercial work and logistics of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” Tymofiy Murakhovskyi told during the meeting of the Export Office at the UZ, writes Rail.insider.

“Today, the Izmail station is very congested. Every day we have a load coordination regarding the transfer of trains to the port. And today we are planning 7-8 trains per day. The problem is precisely that the transshipment capacities of the port are very densely filled, and the station itself is not able to transfer such a number of trains,” Murakhovsky noted.

Currently, the railway workers are coordinating the project for the development of the railway infrastructure of the Izmail station.

“Nibulon already has a positive decision to build an exhaust track, which will also somewhat simplify operations at the station. We believe that we will fix it in one or two months,” Murakhovsky noted.

At the same time, he asked the business to take into account the limited capacity of the station when building the terminals.
