Freight rates on the Danube increased significantly after the Russian shelling

As a result of Russian shelling of the Danube ports, freight rates in the region have increased by 5-7 euros compared to last week.

Due to Russian shelling, shipowners are afraid to send ships to the Danube ports. This was reported by a freight broker on the Danube in an interview with Latifundist.

“Many Turkish shipowners are family-type companies, and they care more about the crew than insurance premiums. Many do not insure the vessel at all and simply use the opportunity to earn more,” explained the broker.

According to the broker, in the last few days, almost no freight deals were concluded. As a result, freight prices have already increased by 5-7 euros compared to last Friday. So, barges for a voyage to Constanta with rapeseed rose from €35 to €40-42, and coasters – from $30 to $35-37.
