Japan has said that Russian and Chinese warships are patrolling near its waters.
Five Chinese and five Russian ships passed through the Soya Strait between Hokkaido and Sakhalin to the Sea of Okhotsk, Japan’s Ministry of Defense said, Kyodo reported.
Probably, the movement of such ships is connected with the joint patrolling of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China in the Pacific Ocean.
Russian and Chinese ships — destroyers, frigates and supply ships — were about 200 km southwest of Rebun Island near Hokkaido on the afternoon of July 28.
On July 29, the ships headed east through the Soya Strait.
Nine of the 10 ships participated in joint exercises in the Sea of Japan from July 18-23. The country tracks their movements.
