In Russia, for the first time, the fact of the death of a sailor from the large landing ship “Novocherkask” was officially confirmed.
The gymnasium in the Russian city of Shakhty, where the deceased studied, published an obituary, Krym.Realii reports.
The website of the Shakhtyno Pushkin Gymnasium (Rostov region) reports that the deceased is senior sailor Ihor Meshcheryakov, who completed his studies in 2017.
Since August 2021, Meshcheryakov served in the 197th brigade of large amphibious ships of the Russian Navy, Large Landing Craft “Novocherkask”, with the rank of sailor. The educational institution clarified that the Russian died on December 26, the day of the rocket attack on the ship.
USM previously reported that as a result of the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Russian military ship “Novocherkask” in the port of occupied Feodosia, 33 sailors are considered missing.
