In Poland, it was advised to take into account the “agrarian factor” during Ukraine’s accession to the EU

Poland stated that the “agrarian factor” must be taken into account in the process of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

The Vice-Speaker of the Polish Sejm, Piotr Zgozhelsky, advised the trade representative of Ukraine to “restrain himself in his statements,” reports PolsatNews.

He added that the impact of Ukrainian agriculture will need to be taken into account in preparation for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Earlier, Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka commented on the incident with the scattering of Ukrainian grain by Polish farmers at the border. He noted that the insufficient reaction of the Polish authorities to the damage to the cargo from Ukraine will lead “to stronger xenophobia and political violence.”

“It is better for him to refrain from making statements, because Ukraine has not had and will not have such a loyal friend as Poland. Mr. Deputy Minister, do not insult Polish farmers, because this is a sure way to spoil good relations,” Zgozhelsky replied to the statement.

The vice-speaker also noted: “We as Poles testify to friendship and that we are on the right side, but we also want to tell our friends who are fighting for their freedom that the process of joining the EU will also have to take into account our economic situation and agrarian situation.”

Zgozhelsky added that Ukraine’s accession to the EU “should not lead to the bankruptcy of Polish farmers.”

As a reminder, on February 20, Polish farmers plan to block all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, as well as the entrances to railways and seaports.

Previously, USM reported that Poland’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Michal Kolodzejczak, said that Poland will begin mandatory inspection of all Ukrainian grain transiting through the country.
