Two Sovcomflot tankers stopped STS operations due to sanctions
Due to the sanctions of the United States, two tankers stopped pumping Russian oil between them.
Oil tankers NS Creation and “Zaliv Amurskyi” stopped STS operations with Russian oil after the first vessel was added to the US sanctions list, Bloomberg reports.
At the beginning of February, in the Baltic port of Primorsk (Russian Federation), the tanker “Zaliv Amurskyi” received 730,000 barrels of Russian Urals oil.
Last week, the vessels met in the Gulf of Laconia, off the coast of Greece, but within hours the US Treasury Department announced new sanctions for vessels transporting Russian oil to circumvent the “price ceiling”.
In the event that “Zaliv Amurskyi” transferred oil to NS Creation, the latter would go to the Suez Canal to reach the customer in Asia. And “Zaliv Amurskyi” would most likely return to Primorsk for the next cargo.
But NS Creation went to the port of Novorossiysk, and “Zaliv Amurskyi” – to the northern exit of the Suez Canal. The transfer of oil did not take place.
It will be recalled that more and more tankers transporting Russian oil are beginning to disguise their activities.
Previously, USM wrote that the USA introduced new sanctions against a network of international companies involved in Rosneft smuggling.
Also recently, due to sanctions, Turkish companies began to stop paying money for Russian oil.
