Humanitarian aid from Ukraine arrived at the port of Sudan
Ukrainian grain, which was sent within the framework of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, arrived in Port Sudan.
Grain is being unloaded for emergency distribution in the war-torn country, the website of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) reported.
It is expected that the delivered grain will be enough for a month.
“This delivery was made within the framework of the humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine. It became possible thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, which covered all operating costs in the amount of 15 million euros. This includes the costs of transporting wheat from Ukraine to Sudan, as well as the organization of distribution within the country among people who need it,” the message reads.

The UN said that 7,600 tons of wheat flour will be provided to families in Sudan, many of whom have fled their homes due to hostilities and are struggling to meet their urgent needs every day.
Currently, almost 18 million people in Sudan are facing acute food insecurity, of which almost 5 million are in a state of extreme hunger. WFP has already provided emergency food assistance to around 7 million people since the conflict began last April, but needs continue to grow.
As previously reported by USM, more than 136 million dollars were collected for the humanitarian initiative Grain From Ukraine during the second international summit.
