UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting over Russian attacks on ships in Black Sea

The request was supported by France, Great Britain, Denmark, Greece and Latvia. Ten sailors were killed in the latest attacks on port facilities in the Odesa region.
The UN Security Council will convene on Monday, July 27, for an emergency meeting in connection with the Russian shelling of civilian vessels in the Black Sea. This was reported by Ukrinform.
The discussions were supported by the European members of the Security Council – France, Great Britain, Denmark, Greece and Latvia. The meeting will begin at 10:00 Eastern American time (17:00 Kyiv time).
As a reminder, Ukraine requested an urgent meeting of the Security Council in response to Russia’s attacks on freedom of navigation in the Black Sea. Ukraine’s letter to the Security Council leadership refers to a large-scale missile and drone attack on Kyiv and other cities on the night of July 18-19. It is noted that Russian forces are increasingly attacking Ukrainian Black Sea ports, sea export routes and commercial shipping.
During the recent attacks on the Odesa region and port facilities, several foreign-flagged vessels were damaged, and ten sailors were killed.
The day before, USM wrote that the “Golden Leo” vessel, which was shelled near Odesa on July 19, sank in the Black Sea.
