Ukraine exports crop residues until the end of May

Due to the sale of last year’s crop residues, grain prices will rise both on the domestic and foreign markets.

By the end of May, Ukraine will probably sell all the remaining grain of the 2023 harvest. This was stated by the president of UGA, Mykola Gorbachev, Interfax-Ukraine writes.

Experts predict an increase in grain prices until the end of May. Instead, in June, prices on the Ukrainian market will be stable, and on the world market they will rise somewhat. A lower yield is also expected in Europe, which will positively affect pricing for Ukrainian producers.

Gorbachev also hopes that during this period the work of the ports of Great Odesa will be better. This will enable Ukrainian farmers in 2025 to focus not only on profitable crops, which are unprofitable for them in the current season, but will increase production in all sectors of agriculture.

Among the negative impacts is a compromise agreement regarding Ukrainian grain quotas for export to EU countries. It is also likely that France and Poland will lobby for legislative and sanitary restrictions that will hinder Ukrainian business.

At the same time, Gorbachev emphasized that this will encourage Ukrainian agricultural producers to look for new sales markets.

“It is logical that we will find them. Whether it will be Africa, whether there will be additional volumes to Asia, but we will still sell all the grain. Somewhere there will be competition again, somewhere we will have to make concessions or complete something, – assured the president of UGA. “We will be even stronger next year, because we need it.”
