A tanker with Ukrainian sailors rescued a fisherman in the Java Sea


The crew of an oil tanker operating on liquefied natural gas rescued a fisherman in the Java Sea.

The captain of the Angleviken tanker said the crew spotted a person floating in the water about 4.6 km from the vessel in the Java Sea, MarineTraffic reported.

The ship was immediately directed to help the man.

The crew, consisting of Filipino, Indian and Ukrainian sailors, began rescue operations. The fisherman was rescued in 45 minutes.

Angleviken is a 110,000 dwt crude oil tanker flying the flag of Liberia. The vessel was en route from Etame, Gabon to Balongan, Indonesia.
