Almost 40 tankers have stopped transporting Russian oil due to US sanctions
Almost 40 vessels that have come under US sanctions have stopped transporting Russian oil.
Almost all tankers that have come under US sanctions have stopped transporting oil and oil products, enkorr reports.
Since October last year, sanctions have been imposed against 40 tankers, mostly for violating the price “ceiling” and defrauding Western insurers, which can provide financial services only to those traders who buy oil from Russia for no more than $60/barrel.
Only one of them, the “Sovcomflot” tanker “Primorye”, loaded oil after being on the sanctions list. Now he is heading to Asia.
Other tankers stand empty in various parts of the world, except for one that went to China for repairs. So, eight Sovcomflot ships are near the ports of Vladivostok and Nakhodka. Another seven returned to the Black Sea in the period from December to early May, and three stopped in the Baltic Sea.
In total, 21 “Sovcomflot” tankers were sanctioned. Another 18 are owned by Hennesea Holdings Ltd. from the UAE. Another Turkish “Yasa Golden Bosphorus” is the only tanker removed from the sanctions list in April. After that, it loaded oil in the US, but then anchored off the Texas coast.
