Ukraine can halve corn exports

Despite the interest in Ukrainian corn in the world, its export may decrease due to limited supply from farmers.

So, the demand for the new crop of corn from Ukraine has increased sharply. Importers have become more active, but the offer from farmers remains limited, the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council reported.

Agricultural holdings sell the most corn. Interest in Ukrainian grain grew against the background of news about the reduction of the harvest in Ukraine and South America.

In September, Ukraine exported 200,000 tons of corn. Although this is a transitional period, the main volumes of shipments are expected in the following months of this year.

In the last marketing year, Ukraine exported about 30 million tons of corn. Much smaller volumes are expected this season due to reduced stocks. As of September 1, only 600,000 tons of grain were stored in warehouses.

Experts forecast the volume of corn harvest at 21-22 million tons, of which about 5 million tons will be for the domestic market. The export potential of culture is estimated at the level of 15-17 million tons, which is almost twice less than the previous indicator.

Previously, USM reported that corn could once again become the main export agricultural product of Ukraine.
