Experts named the largest importers of Ukrainian wheat this season

Analysts have published a list of the five largest importers of Ukrainian wheat for the first three months of the 2024/25 marketing year (MY).

The pace of wheat exports at the beginning of the season exceeds the indicators of the previous two years. This is largely related to the stable operation of the sea corridor, “UkrAgroConsult” writes.

However, August and September data still lag behind the average level of the last five years, due to the reduction of export potential during the war.

Since the beginning of the current marketing year, the top five importers of Ukrainian wheat have included Spain, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt and Thailand.

Analysts note that, compared to last season, new Southeast Asian countries have appeared among the top importers, thanks to the possibility of exporting through the deep-sea ports of Great Odesa.

At the same time, Spain remains the leader among importers of Ukrainian wheat. Although its demand is expected to decrease in the 2024/25 fiscal year, the country will continue to play a key role in Ukrainian exports of agricultural products.

As USM wrote, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy recently reported that Ukraine supplies food for 600 million people in the world.
