Kernel plans to develop and maintain a “plan B” on the Danube
Kernel Agroholding maintains assets on the Danube in good condition and also provides transshipment services.
The director of logistics of the agricultural holding, Mykola Miroshnychenko, told about this in an interview with Latifundist.com.
According to him, the strategic goals of the company include the task of developing and maintaining “plan B”.
“Danube is an active player in this regard, we maintain our assets there in proper condition, provide transshipment services. At the same time, we remember that the Danube at its peak gave about 2.4 million tons every month. This is much more than before the war, but, of course, it is not enough for the development of the industry, taking into account the cost of logistics,” noted Mykola Miroshnychenko.
The director of logistics said that “plan B” is a terminal in Rennes for the shipment of oil, which can potentially handle 80-100 thousand tons of oil per month. He also noted that this figure may increase.
“For bulk cargo, the Danube does not provide the volumes we need. In grain “plan B”, the Danube is more of an option to keep exports at a minimum level. The river does not give growth. Plus it’s expensive. Final logistics across the Danube to Constanta peaked at $100+/t total. Today it can be somewhere around $60-65/t. And, if we equate the freight rates of Chornomorsk and Constanta by sea, the cost of grain cargoes to the port of Great Odesa is calculated at the level of somewhere around $16-18/t,” Miroshnychenko emphasized.
As previously reported by USM, Kernel disclosed the reasons for the sale of the “Eneida” vessel.
