Cocaine through the port of Odesa: members of international drug trafficking received a sentence

Three members of the world-famous criminal organization “Ndrangheta”, who were involved in cocaine smuggling, received 11 years in prison with confiscation of property.
They were involved in cocaine smuggling from South America to the European Union through the territory of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine reports.
Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained the organizer of the “channel” in our country and two of his accomplices in August 2021 as a result of a special operation in Odesa.
“Then the drug dealers tried to smuggle 80 kg of cocaine to the EU. They hid the smuggled “goods” in refrigerated containers with bananas, which were transported from a South American country. During the inspection of the cargo, 100 briquettes of cocaine were found, disguised in technological cavities,” the report says.
One of the suspects was detained directly near the seaport.
Two more – in the territory of the industrial market of the Odesa region, where they arrived to “meet” the illegal cargo for its further transit to Western Europe.
According to the investigation, the perpetrators are two residents of the Balkan countries and a citizen of Ukraine, who were responsible for organizing drug trafficking in the ranks of the “Ndrangheta”.
Based on the evidence collected by the SBU investigators, the court found the perpetrators guilty under Part 3 of Article 305, Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling of narcotic drugs committed by an organized group, in especially large quantities, their acquisition, storage and transportation for the purpose of sale).
