EU allows Kazakhstan to export coal through Russian ports, despite sanctions

The European Union has allowed European companies to export Kazakh coal from Russian ports as an exception.
Such amendments to the sanctions regime against the Russian Federation were made within the framework of the 18th package of restrictions,the “Business-Censor” reports.
The exception for companies will be valid under the following conditions:
• coal must originate exclusively from Kazakhstan;
• ownership of the cargo must belong to residents of countries not subject to sanctions;
• ports can only be used for transit, loading or shipment – without purchasing or producing goods on their territory.
Earlier, USM reported that Putin disrupted oil exports from Kazakhstan due to inspections of foreign vessels by the FSB.
