Invaders clear the canal to the Mariupol port for “pirate logistics” (video)

The project involves increasing the depth and dimensions of the canal and is designed to last at least until 2027.
In temporarily occupied Mariupol, the Russians are systematically modernizing the shipping channel to the port. This was reported by the head of the Center for the Study of the Occupation, Petro Andryushchenko.

The Russians plan to increase the depth of the canal from 7 to 9.15 m, expand it from 70 to 100 m and extend it to 17.5 km. A fleet of specialized equipment is operating on the site: the Urengoy self-loading dredger, the Flamingo soil-transport barge and the Kolomenets dredging platform.

According to Andryushchenko, the goal of the work is not to develop civilian infrastructure, but to simplify the illegal export of Ukrainian resources: the creation of “pirate logistics” for large consignments.

The occupiers are already using the Mariupol port as a link for military and looting logistics: periodically there are recorded loading of ships with stolen grain and coal, as well as the movement of metal products from enterprises in the temporarily occupied territories.
The expansion of the canal makes it possible to increase the tonnage of ships, increase the intensity of shipments and stabilize the route scheme through the Sea of Azov.
