Swedish military spots Russian submarine in Baltic Sea

The Swedish Air Force spotted and escorted a Russian submarine in the Baltic Sea.

The Swedish Air Force reported this on the social network X.

The agency specified that the ship entered the Baltic Sea on October 14. Swedish fighters spotted the submarine and escorted it.

Recall that Russia confirmed that its submarine surfaced off the coast of France.

Before that, the NATO Naval Forces Command said that they had spotted a Russian submarine, but assured that the situation was under control. The network assumed that the submarine surfaced due to a technical malfunction.

However, Russia denied that its submarine B-261 “Novorossiysk” surfaced precisely because of a malfunction. The Russian Black Sea Fleet claims that the submarine crew is making a planned inter-fleet transfer after completing tasks as part of the Russian Navy’s permanent operational formation in the Mediterranean Sea.

USM previously reported that a Russian research vessel is spying on Europe’s undersea cables.
