Defense forces hit four Russian warships in Novorossiysk


Among the affected ships are two frigates of project 11356, a small missile ship “Buyan-M” and a patrol ship “Vasiliy Bykov”.

On the night of August 12, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine attacked the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Territory. As a result of the operation, four Russian warships were hit, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine reported.

According to preliminary information, two frigates of project 11356 – “Admiral Makarov” and “Admiral Essen”, a small missile ship of project 21631 “Buyan-M” and a patrol ship of project 22160 “Vasily Bykov” suffered varying degrees of damage.

Information on the nature of the damage is being clarified.

According to the SBU, the 30N6E radar station, which is part of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, as well as a mobile firing group on pier No. 2 of the Novorossiysk port, were also hit during the operation.

In addition, the portal of the tunnel of the Grushova oil depot — the Sheskharis terminal — and the infrastructure of berths No. 3, No. 6, and No. 7 were damaged.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced an attack on the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk.
