An official was exposed for corruption in the Izmail port

The court granted permission to investigators to detain an official of the Izmail Sea Port, who concluded a procurement contract for the enterprise at an inflated price.

This is reported by Intent with reference to the ruling of the Izmail City District Court of the Odesa region.

Investigators of the Izmail District Police Department of the Odesa region applied to the court with a request for permission to detain an official of the State Enterprise “Izmail Sea Trade Port”.

According to the investigation, from August to November 2022, the official, who held the position of head of the logistics and administrative and economic service, improperly performed his duties, in particular, the procurement of computer equipment.

The procurement was carried out with state funds through the Prozorro electronic system. The investigation established that the official limited himself to analyzing only one commercial offer and did not use other available sources of information to determine the expected cost of the goods. As a result, the expected cost of the purchase was overstated, which led to an overpayment of more than 980 thousand hryvnias compared to the market price.

In total, the SE “Izmail Sea Commercial Port” transferred more than UAH 2.5 million to the account of the company supplying the equipment. According to the investigation, this amount exceeds the market value of the goods and was the result of the official’s negligence.

The court granted the investigators’ request and granted permission to detain the official in order to serve as a pretext for participation in the consideration of the issue of choosing a preventive measure.
