Russian Sanctioned Ship Carrying Stolen Ukrainian Grain Heads to Cyprus

The Kapitan Yakovlev vessel, which was loaded with over 4 thousand tons of wheat, left occupied Sevastopol.

This was reported by Kateryna Yaresko, a journalist for the SeaKrime project of the Peacekeeper Center.

According to her, the “Kapitan Yakovlev” vessel (IMO:9077575) is currently heading to Famagusta (a closed port of Northern Cyprus) with 4078.5 tons of wheat loaded in occupied Sevastopol.

“The vessel was in Komyshova Bay from January 15 to February 13, 2026, first unloading cargo from Eregli, then loading with wheat,” Kateryna Yaresko noted.

The Defense Intelligence portal of the Ministry of Defense War&Sanctions notes that in May 2025, the vessel with a cargo of grain made a voyage from the port of Mariupol to the port of Famagusta (Northern Cyprus, controlled by Turkey).

As a reminder, “Kapitan Yakovlev” is under sanctions from the US and Ukraine – it is also suspected of transporting military cargo for the Russian Federation.
