Bureau of Economic Security stopped an attempt to export 28 thousand tons of corn through the port of Odesa

In Odesa, a scheme for minimizing taxes during the export of agricultural products of unknown origin was exposed.

The Bureau of Economic Security in the Odesa region announced the liquidation of a scheme for evading taxes during the export of grain. This was reported by the press service of the department.

According to BEB, a group of individuals registered controlled companies in various cities of Ukraine through which they documented the cultivation of corn, although in fact they had neither land in use, nor employees, nor equipment.

The investigation believes that in fact the participants in the scheme bought grain from farmers throughout Ukraine for cash without paying VAT. Further, in order to form a tax credit and legalize the products, they deposited cash in the amount of 14% of the cost of the goods into the accounts of their companies and registered tax invoices.

The BEB notes that such a scheme allowed them to bypass tax control and claim a budget VAT refund in the amount of 14% of the cost of corn.

According to the department, the transaction was stopped at the stage of preparation for export. The entrepreneurs planned to send almost 28 thousand tons of corn worth UAH 202 million through the Odessa port to a company in Malaysia.

After the intervention of the BEB, the exporter canceled the customs declarations, which, according to the investigation, prevented potential losses to the state budget.

Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are identifying the full range of persons involved in the scheme.

Previously, the BEB fined a company that exported soybeans through the ports of the Odesa region. The company exported about 10.5 thousand tons of soybeans to Turkey, Romania and the UAE. The BEB noted that the exporter filed a tax report with an understatement and hid part of the income.
